Briançon

Surrounded by five well preserved valleys, Briançon proudly stands on its rocky peak at 1,326 meters. Known for its exceptional fortifications, the former capital of the Escartons has all the charms of a city situated in altitude. The medieval town boasts a wonderful architectural heritage: the Big and Small Gargoyle, the House of Templars, the collegiate church, the Cordelier church and its frescoes, the fort of the castle, multicoloured houses, sundials... Briançon is blessed with perfect weather: 300 days of sunshine a year, crisp and pure air, blue skies.
