Revel

Located between plain and mountain, Revel Saint Ferréol has all the assets of a town in the country. Fortified by French kings in the 14th century, Revel is proud of its architectural landmarks, be it the ancient food halls with their belfry (now home to the Tourist information centre), or the arched passageways and old houses which surround it. Chosen as one of Unesco’s World Heritage sites, Saint Ferréol is a lake formed by a 17th century dike built by Pierre-Paul Riquet, who also designed the Midi Canal. Long renowned for its fine cabinet makers, Revel has recently diversified into the food and agriculture industry. Its food market, held every Saturday morning, remains one of the most splendid to be seen in France. Revel has often welcomed the Tour de France.
