Surrounded by the landscape of the Black Forest, Pforzheim, the "City of Gold”, is the centre of the jewellery and watch-making industry with 70% of all jewellery products manufactured in Germany. Pforzheim, with a population of nearly 120,000, is home to numerous firms of world-wide reputation. In the numerous museums visitors can learn more about the “City of Gold”, for instance the Jewellery Museum with its unique world-wide collection of authentic pieces spanning five thousand years. The "World of Jewellery in Pforzheim" in the House of Industries (to open on June 17th) will provide a stunning insight into the fascinating universe of jewellery and watches with over 3,500 square meters of exhibits.
