Located in the Hautes-Alpes department, Gap is a middle-sized town on the rise, adding one new inhabitant per day to a population already in excess of 40, 000.
Nestled at the foot of the Bayard Pass, with the snowy peaks of the Ecrins range looming overhead, the capital of the southern Alps is a touristy hub on the Route Napoleon between Golfe-Juan and Grenoble, as well as the main cultural, commercial, administrative, banking and health care center in the southern Alps, a region blessed with a famed sunny climate and spacious natural landscapes.
