Mâcon

In the south of Burgundy, Macon is strategically situated at the crossroads of east-west and north-south communication routes : with the TGV, a number of highways and the Saone river, the city is a major hub with an international vocation.

Birthplace of the poet Lamartine, a most green and flowery city, Macon is also a tourist destination. A rich town, settled between the river and world-renowned vineyards, surrounded by architectural heritage.

With better than adequate sports facilities, more than 14,000 of Macon’s 36,000 inhabitants regularly practice a sport, in one of the 73 clubs representing 40 different sports. More than 40 sporting events take place each year, some regular and others unique, making Macon truly an athletic town.
