 Rue Piétonne (Ville de Lisieux)
Lisieux
Capital of the Pays d’Auge, Lisieux has behind it a very long tradition, historical as well as economical, without forgetting sports and the arts.
From Gallo-Roman times, of which multiple vestiges keep turning up, to the present day, the city has proved it was deeply rooted in the region of Basse-Normandie, and committed to its economic development.
A center of spirituality (St Thérèse pilgrimage), economy (stock breeding, local produce) and culture (over 100 free events each year), Lisieux is a dynamic town which attracts more than one million tourists and visitors a year.
Truly a cycling town, since 1981 Lisieux hosts the first post-Tour de France criterium, more than 30,000 fans cheering on the top riders just two days after the Champs Elysees stage.
