Ans
The municipality of Ans, covering an area of around 2300 hectares, lies next to the town of Liege and stretches along the old Liege-Brussels road. Made up of the former municipalities of Ans, Alleur, Loncin and Xhendremael, it represents an ideal transition between the urban aspect of the town of Liege and the rural aspect of the countryside bordering the Northern region of France. Encircled by Awans, Grâce-Hollogne, Saint-Nicolas, Liege and Juprelle, this linear municipality offers a multitude of different facets and a great variety of landscapes to the delight of its 28,000 inhabitants.Indeed, Ans combines residential, rural, commercial and industrial districts. From an economic standpoint, Ans is home to over 1500 businesses, shops and services of varying sizes.

Liège
For almost three decades, the Province of Liege has followed a dynamic sporting policy that is ‘open to all sports and to all sports enthusiasts’.Holder of the title of ‘Belgium’s most sporting Province’, Liege and the surrounding area hold a number of big events that promote the region’s image while also bringing in not inconsiderable funds for the region.
Amongst the many events hosted by the Province of Liege each year it sees the world’s top cyclists gathering for the Ardennes Classics (the Flèche Wallone and the Liege-Bastogne-Liege bicycle races). It has also welcomed the Tour de France on several occasions and, in 2006, it was the starting point for the Italian Giro bicycle race.
