Issy-les-Moulineaux
Sports play a very special role in Issy. With 40% more members added in the last five years, Issy’s clubs have considerably expanded their sports offerings. From capoeira to foosball, women’s handball and disabled sports activities, there are some 39 clubs to welcome you 363 days a year from 8:00 am to 11 pm. The year 2005 will be remembered as the year the Palais des Sports opened.
This "sports palace" has three rooms, 3 000 m2 of sport-quality wooden floors and 13-meter ceilings that make it one of Europe’s largest sporting facilities; it has already hosted several international competitions. It was boosted in 2006 by the creation of a fourth synthetic soccer field and in 2007 will be further complemented with the addition of the "Christiane Guillaume" Sports Hall in the Municipal Sports Park. Each year, Issy-les-Moulineaux is host to the Paris-Nice prologue, a traditional passage of the Tour de France and the famous "Corrida de Noël" which brings some 10,000 athletes out into the streets to run in the middle of December.
