The stage analysis

Wednesday 14 March 2007
stage 3 | Limoges > Maurs la Jolie - 215.5 km

Limoges – Maurs

The analysis of François Lemarchand (former rider, race regulator on the A.S.O. cycling events)

The longest stage of the event. It’ll therefore be difficult for the leader’s team to have a control on the situation throughout the stage. In the first kilometres, the course is made for attacks: it was indeed on these roads that Richard Virenque had broken away from the pack with Axel Merckx on a 14th of July, French National day, before triumphing in Saint-Flour. The journey through the Corrèze and Lot areas won’t be too difficult. The Côte du Fangas, with just over forty kilometres to go will on the other hand be a perfect terrain for an attacking rider to impress.
