Special rules

Article 1. Organisation

The 96th Liège-Bastogne-Liège is organised by Performance Sport Organisation (P.S.O.), under International Cycling Union (UCI) and Belgian Royal Cycling Federation regulations. It will take place on Sunday 25th April 2010.

 

Article 2. Participation

The event is open to UCI Pro Teams and Continental Pro Teams, with a maximum of 8 riders and a minimum of 5 riders at the start.

Through its registration and/or participation in the event, each team declares its full acceptance of, and adherence to, the provisions of the present specific regulations.

 

Article 3. World rankings

The 96th Liège-Bastogne-Liège will be taken into accounts for the world rankings, with points awarded as follows: 100 - 80 - 70 - 60 - 50 - 40 - 30 - 20 - 10 - 4 for the top 10 contenders.

 

Article 4. Race Headquarters

Race Headquarters will be open on Saturday 26th April from 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm, at:

Le retrait des dossards par les responsables d'équipes licenciés se fait de 14h30 à 16h45.

Team Managers can confirm their roster and claim jersey numbers from 2.30 pm to 4.45 pm. The Team Managers' meeting, in the presence of members of the College of Stewards, will be held at 5.00 pm at Race Headquarters.

 

Article 5. Radio-Tour

Race information will be broadcast on "Radio-Tour" (169.425 MHZ).

 

Article 6. Neutral technical support

Neutral technical support will be provided by Mavic, using 3 technical vehicles and 1 motorbike.

 

Article 7. Finishing deadlines

Riders finishing further back than 1/20th of the winner's overall time will be excluded from the final rankings.

Exceptional situations will be arbitrated by the College of Stewards and the Race Management.

 

Article 8. Classifications

The following classifications are at stake:

  • individual overall time classification;
  • best climber classification.
 

Article 9. Best Climber Classification

A best climber classification is based on the sum of the points obtained at the summit of the 10 climbs. In each of the climbs, the following points are awarded: 4 - 2 - 1 for the first 3 classified riders.

To be entitled to final best climber classification, contenders have to complete the entire race within regulatory time.

In the event of a tie, the following criteria shall be applied until the riders are separated: final individual overall time classification.

The overall prizes for this classification is distributed among the 10 summits rankings and the overall best climber classification.

Final best climber classification

For every climb:

  • au 1st : 250 €

Total 250 € x 10 = 2,500 €

Overall best climber classification

  • au 1st : 2,000 €
  • au 2nd : 750 €
  • au 3rd : 500 €

Total: 3,250 €

Total prize money for the best climber classification: 5,750 €

TOTAL PRIZE MONEY: 55,750 €
 

Article 11. Fight against doping - Anti-doping tests

Anti-doping tests are carried out under the authority of the UCI and designated officials, at the finish line of each stage.

P.S.O. and all participating teams declare it an absolute obligation to scrupulously respect the regulations and procedures decreed by the relevant authorities governing the fight against doping, as well as the obligation to maintain a strictly irreproachable line of conduct in this domain. Participating teams make a commitment to apply the aforementioned regulations and procedures and shall be entirely responsible for the strict adherence to these regulations by their riders and more generally, their staff and service providers.

 

Article 12. Awards Ceremony

The following must present themselves on the podium at the awards ceremony, within 5 minutes of crossing the finish line:

  • The top 3 riders of the race.
  • The best climber classification winner.
 

Article 13. Penalties

The event's penalties scale is the only one that can be enforced.

 

Article 14. Objection - Exclusion

P.S.O. considers the preservation of its image, its reputation and that of its events of the utmost consequence.

According to the UCI regulations article 2.2.010 bis, paragraph 7 and 8, P.S.O. expressly reserves the right to refuse the participation in - or to exclude from - the event, any team or members of a team, whose presence shall seriously blemish the image and/or reputation of P.S.O. and/or the event.
