Regulations
ARTICLE 1. Organisation

The 74th CRITÉRIUM INTERNATIONAL is organised by TDF Sport and Amaury Sport Organisation in compliance with the rules and regulations of the Union Cycliste Internationale and the Fédération Française de Cyclisme. It takes place on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 mars in 3 stages.


ARTICLE 2. Participation

The 74th CRITERIUM INTERNATIONAL offers an open invitation to Pro Teams and UCI Professional Continental Teams. The number of contestants per team is limited to a maximum of 8 and a minimum of 5 at the start.


ARTICLE 3. Continental European Classification

The race is classified in the HC category of the Continental European Calendar, and awards the following individual classifications:
    • Final Classification: 100 - 70 - 40 - 30 - 25 - 20 - 15 - 10 - 9 - 8 - 7 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 points to the first 15 contestants making the classification.
    • Classification by stage: 20 - 14 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 2 points to the first 8 contestants making the classification.
    • Wearing of the leader' jersey of the race: 10 points per stage.

ARTICLE 4. Reception

Reception and registration take place Friday 25 March from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Contestants' numbers are collected by the licenced team managers from 2:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. The Sports Directors' meeting takes place in the presence of the Members of the College of Commissioners, scheduled at 5 p.m. at the reception office.


ARTICLE 5. Radio-Tour

Information regarding the race is broadcast on over the Frequency “Radio-Tour” of 169.425 MHZ.


ARTICLE 6. General Individual Classification

The leader of the General Classification wears a yellow jersey.


ARTICLE 7. Best Climber classification

A classification of Best Climber is contested over the full set of 12 slopes selected for the classification.
The following points are awarded for each of the 10 slopes:
    • 1st: 4 pts
    • 2nd: 2 pts
    • 3rd: 1 pt
    • on the Mont Malgré Tout (2 slopes), 6 - 4 and 2 points are awarded.

The general classification is determined by adding the points obtained for the full set of slopes counting for the Best Climber Classification. The leader of the classification wears the white jersey with red polka dots.

In compliance with article 2.6.017 of the U.C.I. regulations, in case of a tie in the final general classification, the following criteria are applied, so as to determine a winner:
    • number of 1st places in the slopes,
    • final General Individual Classification by time.

To win the prizes of the Final General classification, every competitor must have completed the race within the rules.


ARTICLE 8. Classification by Points

The classification by points is determined by adding the points obtained in each of the 3 stages, as well as in the Intermediate Sprints.

It is calculated for each of the 3 Intermediate Sprints contested during the: 1st stage: VOUZIERS - CHARLEVILLE-MÉZIÈRES:
    • 3 - 2 and 1 points to the first 3 contestants to make the classification.

At the finish, of the 1st stage in CHARLEVILLE-MÉZIÈRES, of the 2nd stage at MONTHERMÉ and the 3rd stage in CHARLEVILLE-MÉZIÈRES :
    • 15 - 12 - 10 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 and 2 points to the first 10 contestants to make the classification.

The leader of the classification wears the Green Jersey.

In compliance with the article 2.6.017 of the U.C.I. individual regulations governing points, the following criteria shall be applied, until a proper breakdown is achieved:
    • number of stage victories,
    • number of victories in the intermediate sprints,
    • general individual classification by time.

To win the prize for the final general classification, each contestant must have completed the entire race course within regulation time frames.


ARTICLE 9. Classification by team

In compliance with article 2.6.016 of the U.C.I. regulations, the general classification of teams by is calculated by the addition of the best three individual times of each team.

In case of a tie, the teams are ranked by the addition of the places obtained by their first three contestants in the stage. If there is still a tie, the teams are ranked by the place of their best contestant in the classification of the stage. The general classification by teams is established by adding the three best individual times of each team in all of the stages contested.

In case of a tie, the following criteria shall be applied, until a clear winner is determined:
    • number of first places in the classification by teams of the day,
    • number of second places the classification by team of the day, etc…

If there is still a tie, the teams are ranked by the place of their best contestant in the general individual classification. Any team reduced to less than 3 contestants is eliminated from the classification by teams.


ARTICLE 10. Junior Classification

Junior classification is restricted to contestants born since 1st January 1980. The leader of the junior classification wears the White Jersey.


ARTICLE 11. Bonus points

Time bonuses carried over only to the general individual classification are awarded in the 1st stage VOUZIERS - CHARLEVILLE-MÉZIÈRES (article 2.6.019). These concern Intermediate Sprints and the finish.
Awarding of these bonus points is carried out as follows:
1°) For each intermediate Sprint is awarded respectively 3'', 2'' and 1'' to the first 3 contestants making the classification.
2°) At the finish, is awarded respectively 10'', 6'' and 4'' to the first 3 contestants making the classification.


ARTICLE 12. Finish at the summit

In order to apply article 2.6.029 of the U.C.I. regulations, the 2nd stage at MONTHERMÉ is a finish at the summit.


ARTICLE 13. Elimination time frame

Elimination time frames are:
    • 1st stage and 2nd stage: 8%
    • 3rd stage: 25 %

Any unusual situation can be decided by the college of commissioners and the executive committee of the organisation.


ARTICLE 14. “Individual” Time Trials

For the 3rd stage at CHARLEVILLE-MÉZIÈRES, individually competing against the clock, starts are given 1' by 1' in the reverse order of the general classification determined at the end of the 2nd stage: LES VIEILLES FORGES – MONTHERMÉ.

The starting order for the “individual” time trial stage is the reverse order of the general classification by time. However the college of commissioners may change the order so as to avoid having contestants of the same team follow each other. Additional emergency help cars are made available to contestants who do not have a technical support team for their respective Group.

ARTICLE 16. Anti-doping control

The anti-doping control is carried out under the auspices of the Union Cycliste Internationale and designated Officials, at the finish of each stage.


ARTICLE 17. Protocol

Obligated to appear at the protocol upon arriving at the finish of the stage:
    • the first in the stage and the leaders of the different classifications.


ARTICLE 18. Penalties

Penalties comply with U.C.I. regulations.
