Department of the Somme
Conseil général de la SommeThe Somme is proud to welcome 3 stages of the 59th edition of the Tour de Picardie, which will, without a doubt, allow the caravan, riders, volunteers and organisers, but also the spectators, to discover all the riches of our department - whether environmental, such as the Baie de Somme, or historic, in the western zone and the cathedral of Amiens, or in the eastern areas, with more recent history on the remembrance tour covering the sites of “The Great War”. Take the time to let the region unveil its charms.

Beyond sponsoring the visit of the beautiful and wonderful sporting itinerary taken by the peloton, the General Council is happy to lend its financial support as well, given the values conveyed by sports in general and cycling in particular: will power, courage, self-denial. Only sports are capable of bringing together such passionate contestants on Sunday morning and attracting millions of our fellow countrymen, who are often unaware of the others' existence, to support our national teams. All of these reasons have convinced the General Council, its 56 sports committees and the 2,000 clubs in the department, or almost one inhabitant in four. Welcome to the Somme, and may the best man win.

Daniel Dubois
Senator from the Somme - President of the General Council
